Training for Power on Trek Mountain Bikes

1 September, 2010 (07:29) | General | By: SportsGuy

Mountain biking is synonymous with sometimes dangerous but exhilarating biking trails that can range from cliff-face climbing to pastoral countryside and open farmland. Combine the fun aspect, the health-giving qualities to the rider and the green benefits to the environment, mountain biking can seem like a ‘win, win’ activity. Bike manufacturers themselves are adding further to the industry’s green credentials - Trek Mountain Bikes for example, are produced in a zero-carbon factory.

The integrity of mountain bikers themselves is also important. Keeping healthy means that riders are able to manage the sometimes tricky trails that they deliberately seek-out. However, whilst the average riders of Trek mountain bikes for instance will already have plenty of stamina and endurance, it’s recognised that one of the most important parts of a mountain biker’s health is physical strength.

Maintaining body strength and weight is vital to ensure mountain bikers remain in control of their bikes in dangerous situations. This enables them to train their reactions quickly and positively when the unexpected comes their way and ‘stay loose’.

There are many ‘bodyweight exercises’ that can be undertaken to achieve improved physical strength, the easiest and simplest being push-ups and pull-ups. The aspirational rider of Trek mountain bikes however can do no wrong by using a work-out process rather than just these simple techniques. Riders of Trek mountain bikes, aspirational as they usually are, may do well to complete a true work-out programme however, rather than these basic routines.

There are numerous books on mountain bike fitness programmes, such as those by John Metcalfe, and advice should really be sought. Also, following big manufacturers’ teams in brand sponsored events, such as Trek World Racing to see how the professionals themselves prepare for events and tournaments is a good idea.

Being the owner of a bike like those from the range of Trek mountain bikes is quite something, however, learning to be fit to enjoy riding it is quite another.
