When looking for fly fishing, people will discover that some of the finest can be found within the United States, specifically Colorado. This one state has built such a strong reputation for fly fishing that it is generally the first state people think of. For anyone interested in fishing for the largest and best, Colorado is known for offering some of the finest places around.

When it comes to Colorado fly fishing, one of the greatest places to visit is known as the Frying Pan River, which is located near the beautiful area of Aspen. There, people will find access to the river easy and the overall surroundings stunning. The most popular trout found in this area include brown, cutthroat, and of course, rainbow. The many hatches around the area are in full operation all year, making Colorado fly fishing something enthusiasts can do whenever they like.

Of course, there are many wonderful places in Colorado, another in the same Aspen region known as the Roaring Fork. What makes this particular area so different is that the river offers calm, peaceful areas as well as large, heavier flowing waters. This river is known for having incredible wild trout and to reach it, the Rio Grande Trail leads right down to the water's edge.

Fishing at Roaring Fork is also a place where year-round trout fishing is available, just as with the Frying Pan River. At Roaring Fork, the waters offer rainbow trout primarily although catching an occasional wild brook trout is also possible.

Then, the North Platte River was one that pioneers used to make their way West. The pioneers would hunt buffalo that made their way to the water for drinking, and fish the abundant waters. Because of this, Colorado fly fishing became widespread. Another fascinating aspect of this river is that experts agree this area of Northwestern Colorado has gold in the water too. Of course, the North Platte River is most loved for its impressive countryside, as well as its incredible trout fishing.

In the Vail area, you can fish the Colorado River which is located in the Rocky Mountain National Park. This is a river that is mostly wide and deep with a gently moving current. Cottonwood trees line the shore providing many hiding spaces for the brown trout that are abundant in this water.

Another area is in the Southwest where the Arkansas River flows, also outstanding for catching trout. While fishing is great all year, the mid-winter and spring months are the best. However, every year around Mother's Day, the caddis are known for hatching. This means that brown trout have lots to eat, forcing them from their secret places and becoming easy to fish for.

These are only a few of the places where fly fishing in Colorado is plentiful. The countryside is gorgeous and the fish plentiful. There are also lots of great lodges that accommodate fly fishermen on a year-round basis. Colorado Fly fishing might be the piece de resistance for many fishermen. Check out this great state and enjoy your adventure!

Some of the most spectacular fly fishing in the United States can be found in the state of Colorado. In fact, when many people think of fly fishing, they automatically think of Colorado Fly Fishing before anyplace else. It is true that Colorado has some amazing fly fishing places that have some trophy-sized fish in them.

As with the "Pan", year-round fishing is available. You will find mostly wild rainbow trout in the Fork with an occasional wild brook trout.

Many years ago, pioneers traveling in areas of the West would use the North Platte River to their advantage. This river was a place where buffalo would go to drink, allowing Indians the chance to hunt, along with fish, which is one of the ways in which Colorado fly fishing became known. In this part of Northwestern Colorado, experts actually rate the river as being excellent for gold metal. However, the trout fished in the North Platte River and its mesmerizing scenery is what most people enjoy most.

Outside of the Vail area is the Colorado River, flowing down through the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park. This particular river is huge, being quite wide and deep but it also has smooth flowing water. The shores are lined with towering cottonwood trees, making this an ideal place for the trout to hide, especially brown trout. Therefore, for anyone who wants great Colorado fly fishing, the Colorado River is one of the best places to visit.

Heading to the Southwestern part of Colorado people will find the Arkansas River, another outstanding location for trout fishing. In fact, the two best times of year to fish this river are in the spring and mid-winter months. One of the special times to fish is around Mother's Day, when the yearly caddis hatches. What happens is that the caddis provides ample food for the brown trout, meaning they leave their hidden places, becoming easier to catch.

The entire state of Colorado has so many exciting places, where people can fish with those mentioned being just a few of the favorites. In fact, fishing in the United States is rated among the most coveted, complete with a beautiful countryside. Fishing in Colorado is fun and there are some great lodges and other accommodations. The bottom line is that Colorado fly fishing offers something very special, a beautiful place, gorgeous scenery, and amazing fish.

Not surprisingly, the fly fishing rod is among the most vital pieces of equipment used by the fly fisherman. The rod assists you with line casting, controlling the line, and striking and landing of the fish you catch. Fishing rods need to bend and flex properly,so it is important that you get a rod that comfortably fits your hand.

The first step is to decide what it is you are fishing for. Is trout what you're after? Do you enjoy large freshwater bass? Have you considered saltwater fishing? These different selections create unique demands on the fly fishing rod. Now a different weight rod needs to be selected based on the your preferred catch. A multi-purpose rod is a 6 wt. If you are solely searching for rainbow or brown trout, a 4 or 5 wt may work the best. With the smallmouth type of bass, using 6 to 8 wt might be right, although largemouth bass would need 8 or 9 wt. Your remaining tackle will be affected by these choices.

Once you've established what tyoe of fish you want to try for, you need to examine the action that each rod you're considering posesses. The rod's action refers to its flexibility. All flyrods, regardless of make or model, have one of the following attributes: fast action, medium action or slow action. Additional casting distance can be obtained with less exertion with a fast action rod. On windy days these are great. They are harder for an angler just getting into the sport due to the rod's power. They're not good for short casts which require a fairly large amount of accuracy.

The most versatile are medium action rods. They might not have the accuracy or quietness of the slow action versions, but are easy to learn when compared to the fast action rods. The easiest way to learn is with slow action rods. They work well around small streams when you want to sneak up on the fish in order to tempt them.

In order to find the casting method that works best for you, try a number of brands. Using a rod that is not designed for your style can make the fishing experience a frustrating one. You can visit any fly shop in order to demo the whole range of rods that are available. If you are unsure about which quality fly rod will work with your budget check to see if there is a casting instructor available to assist you.

The appropriate reel is as important as the right rod. You should choose a suitable line, and then obtain a number of flies that your selected fish will desire.

Not surprisingly, there is a great deal of quality fly fishing equipment being offered online. To browse through some of these listings to find that right fly rod, fly reel or other piece of gear for fly fishing, there are many online resources available.

Anyone who really enjoys getting out in the fresh air to do a little bit of fishing may end up developing a taste for fly fishing. This type is quite a popular, and can involve fishing for trout or even bass. It basically depends on what type of fish you wish to catch! The great news for anyone looking to getting into fishing with a fly rod for bass is that there are several places throughout the United States that are known as hot spots. With a little bit of research, you could even find a couple of wonderful fishing areas within a decent driving distance from your home.

Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and striped bass can be caught with a fly fishing rod. Some of them can be challenging, especially because they are a fairly aggressive fish that are large in size. As a matter of fact, many fishermen will tell you that their feisty nature is one of the main reasons why they like bass fishing in the first place. The thrill of the challenge and the reward that comes with the catch can make all of your preparations very worthwhile.

Fly fishing for bass will require a rod that is able to stand up to the entire process. The rod will generally end up going through a tremendous amount of pressure once a bass is hooked on the line. Not being able to hold the weight will result in breakage of your rod or even the loss of the entire rod altogether into the water. Additionally, it is also important that you do a little bit of research on rods before you actually buy one. You can always go to your local tackle store and get a feel for your fly rod before buying it. This will ensure that you will have a fly rod that is comfortable for you and easy to grasp. These considerations will be important once the bass is caught up on the hook.

The experts at your local fishing tackle shop can help you to find not only a fly fishing rod, but also flies that are appropriate for the type of fish you will be fishing for. There are flies designed for trout and bass. Your local shop is a great place to gather both information and equipment for bass and trout fishing.

Fly fishing for bass is one of the most popular types of fly fishing there is. The thrill of your first time to catch a largemouth bass, can be counted as one of the most thrilling fishing experiences you will have. Most anglers will use spinning or casting reels to catch bass. But if you really want a challenge, then you need to try fly fishing for one.

Fly fishing for bass certainly will not win you any fishing tournaments. But it is the most challenging way you will find to catch bass. It is far removed from most fly fishing techniques, such as fly fishing for trout in a mountain stream.

The rod used is heavier than those used for catching trout. Rods for bass fishing are usually 8 weight, a rod such as this is required because this type of fish takes some landing. Also the fly used would be larger as well. The leader used for this type of fishing would be shorter as well, 4-6 feet, with the tippet at around a 8 pound test line.

The best way to catch your first fish, is to cast your line from a boat towards shore, making sure it lands underneath trees and there branches. A technique that is known to work well, is simply letting the fly rest on the water for a period of time, then snap it across the water quickly, this is a great way to get the attention of any bass that are there. You will find that the popping sound of this action will attract the fish and then you can make your first strike.

Some of the best fishing you will find is in smaller bodies of water. Small county lakes and slow moving creeks are perfect for fly fishing. Slow moving creeks are a favorite, this is because can use the shore to cast from and position your fly in a favorable position, such as, beneath trees.

The thing about this type of fishing, is the fight the fish will put up, will make it seem far larger than it is. A two to three pound bass caught will seem and feel like a six pound fish. All this adds to thrill and excitement of your new fly fishing experience.

Fly fishing for bass is not only an exciting experience, it is also fun to do. So next time you are thinking of going fishing for bass, put aside your normal rod and reel, then give fly fishing a try. You will not regret doing so and will have the most thrilling fishing experience that you will ever have. Also just think about the tales you will be able to regale your friends with, about your new found experience. So are you up to this challenge?

There are fishing poles, and then there are fishing poles. There is a Rod for every fishing situation, and knowing the difference will certainly pay off in the long run.

While many may argue that the term "pole" refers to a relic of a tool while a "rod" is a more sophisticated piece of fishing equipment, the fact remains that the two terms are generally interchangeable. Whether called a pole or a rod, the tool has been fashioned in the same manner for many years, with the basic materials of graphite, carbon, fiberglass, bamboo or composites proving to be the main improvements. Another is in design, with different poles being used for different purposes. While there are many, the main types of fishing rods are fly fishing rods, spin casting poles and bait casting poles .

Fly fishing poles or rods need to have a lightweight and flexible nature . Bamboo fly fishing rods offer excellent quality, but generally are an costly choice . Graphite rods are the most highly sought types on today’s market as they are strong, lightweight and yet flexible. Usually between 7 and 9 feet on length, the size of the stream or lake dictates which pole length should be used. The term “rod weight” actually describes the line size used on the pole, and can range between 1 and 15. This method of fishing is generally for a more experienced level, as it requires a fair deal of effort for the angler. This is because it is the line being cast rather than the lure.

Spin casting is a relatively easy skill to acquire, and is recommended to many beginners primarily for that reason. Shorter than most, the spin cast rod also requires high flexibility. The reel is the tool that needs the most practice, as it is a technique; however, it takes most people just a few minutes to learn. Located on the top of the fishing pole, the spin cast reel is within easy reach and control of the angler. The size of rod and line will vary depending on the type of fish being pursued; bass would need a heavier weight than a panfish would require.

During professional fishing tournaments, bait casting is the common method. Bait casting rods are heavier and longer, and stronger to be able to combat the fighting foe at the end of the line. This type of fishing pole is also very popular with bass fishermen due to the short time it takes to land their bass using the strong and powerful line. The reel also sits on the top of the pole, and is able to handle the heavyweight line needed to bring in “the big one”. Bait casting poles and reels take much more practice to master, and is considered to be more for the experienced angler.
